For the 8th installment of the 5 Minute InTRUview; I talk to developer/designer, Erik Straub of sum(design).
Trudesign: Alright so being the other half of sum(design) who gets to be the horses ass at the office party, oh and who are you??
Erik Straub: I think @scottglasser and I each play one cheek. No need to play favorites. I’m a web developer who dabbles in design. I like to plan out functionality and make it happen!
Tru: Scott thinks he is more awesome, do you have anything to say about that?
Tru: Maybe challenge him to a duel??
Tru: And if you were in said duel, what would be your weapon of choice??
ES: That’d depend on what kind of duel. If it were anything physical, he’s got the height advantage.
ES: I think I’d take him in scrabble, though.
ES: Not a big weapon guy, but I’d say baseball bat. I used to be able to swing one pretty good.
Tru: Back to work tho, are you an enemy of IE like the lot of us or are you a pro at making it work?
ES: I wish i had IE alone in a room with a bat in my hand. Yeah IE can die in a fire.
Tru: LoL, Swing away! dont we all wish thatwhen did you start to learn your fine art? 1 minute
ES: I began with html/css around 15, picked up php about 4 years ago. Moving into Rails now.
Tru: Have you dabbled in making facebook apps at all? Short answer, do you think that social media apps are the way of the future or a fad?
ES: Social is the future, but I wouldn’t depend on one network like facebook.
Tru: When i think of RoR i think of a chick in red slippers walking on train tracks, and I dont like RoR so i picture a train coming too, is that not nice?
ES: If you get to know her, she’s a beauty.
Tru: Excellent, thats the end of our time, thank you Erik!
Erik want you all to know that Fish sticks are awesome. Be sure to check out his site and twitter. Come back tomorrow for an inTRUview with Amber Weinberg!!
